Boyfriend Always Thinks I’m a Little Pitiful Chapter 80
The conversation between Xie Ci and Gu Yufeng piqued the curiosity of those present. There are quite a few companies developing autonomous driving systems, but for one to catch the attention of Qingfeng and DR, this Dolphin System developed by a company in Country C must have something special.
"I heard it from my dad," Gu Yufeng casually replied. "My dad has collaborated on some projects with the boss of this tech company. Knowing I'm interested in autonomous driving, he got me an invitation."
Everyone then realized that Gu Yufeng's dad is the president of the Gu family. The Gu family has been doing well both domestically and internationally in recent years. Compared to the rising DR, the Gu family's approach is more traditional, taking each step very steadily.
"So, President Xie's hometown is in the same area as this company?" The person who initially asked the question turned to Xie Ci, "Did you hear about it from friends back home?"
Xie Ci nodded, "I happened to go back for some business recently."
After answering, he added, "This tech company is only mid-level in our Blue Sea City, and it's their first time developing an artificial intelligence project. I'm curious to see what kind of dish they can serve up."
After speaking, Xie Ci chuckled lightly and looked at Rongyu's president, Aisite, "Of course, it can't compare to the Shark System, which has been refined and updated multiple times."
Ai Wende agreed, "Rongyu has the top-notch R&D team, that's undeniable."
Even though it was a compliment, Aisite wasn't pleased at all. Not to mention the subtle sarcasm in Xie Ci's words, comparing a small company's new product to the Shark System was an insult in itself.
The group of old men listening to their conversation felt a bit disappointed. Ai Wende had made quite a bit of money following Xie Ci's investments, and they were eager to jump in, thinking Xie Ci was going to bet on the Dolphin System, only to find out he was just casually checking it out.
The topic soon shifted from technology to entertainment, and the older folks got interested again.
Gu Yufeng listened to their chatter, but his attention was on Xie Ci. The other sat relaxed yet upright, exuding a deep and humble demeanor. His hair was slightly tousled by the wind on the terrace, adding a touch of casualness. He chatted with those around him with ease, reminiscent of the Xie Ci from his past life.
But now he knew, this Xie Ci was "fake."
The real him was the boy who, during their first meeting, sat in the classroom, indifferent to him.
During a tea break, Xie Ci's expression froze for a moment, discreetly covering his stomach before quickly regaining his composure.
Gu Yufeng watched him act as if nothing was wrong, frowning slightly.
"Young Master Gu, not interested in the entertainment industry?" A middle-aged woman sitting to Gu Yufeng's left noticed his expression and asked curiously.
Gu Yufeng withdrew his gaze and replied calmly, "I don't have much research on the entertainment industry, not very interested."
An hour later, as the gathering was about to end, several people surrounded Xie Ci, openly and subtly expressing their interest in collaboration.
Rongyu's president, Aisite, glanced around, his expression unreadable. Just as he was about to leave, someone approached him from behind.
"What do you think of the Dolphin System?"
The two were old friends, and Aisite dropped his gentlemanly demeanor, showing disdain, "Small fry, no threat to Rongyu."
Despite his words, Xie Ci's attitude made him uneasy.
This young man was hard to read, just like how he pretended not to know Gu Yufeng despite their past relationship.
Xie Ci's excuse of just hearing about it sounded like a cover. If they didn't know some inside information, would they really take time out of their busy schedules to return to the country just to see a small company's new product launch?
The more Aisite thought about it, the more it didn't sit right. He signaled his assistant to investigate the Dolphin System and Feihong Group's information. Turning around, he saw Xie Ci coming out and decided to greet him.
With the strained relationship between Xie Ci and Gu Yufeng, he might as well take the opportunity to win over Xie Ci, gaining an ally against Qingfeng.
"President Xie," Aisite approached Xie Ci with a smile, "Do you have any plans next? How about a drink together?"
"No, I prefer to sleep early," Xie Ci politely declined.
Aisite glanced at the time, not even ten o'clock, feeling a bit awkward, "Is it because Saide only took Rongyu's order, and you're unhappy?"
"Business competition, winning and losing is normal," Xie Ci seemed indifferent, casually saying, "Besides, I only rate Saide's sensors an eight out of ten. There are plenty of good manufacturers, not a big loss."
After speaking, Xie Ci nodded slightly and turned to leave.
Earlier, when he was surrounded by a group of old men, Gu Yufeng had passed by in front of him.
Chasing down to the first floor, Xie Ci politely declined some people trying to chat him up, scanning the crowd and spotting Gu Yufeng leading Robertson out.
At the end of November, City F was colder than Blue Sea City. Gu Yufeng had already put on an overcoat, with a scarf around his neck, the same one he had given him five years ago.
In his memory, Gu Yufeng's clothes and accessories were only worn for a season at most. He didn't expect this scarf to still be in use.
After bidding farewell to Ai Wende, Xie Ci took the coat handed over by his assistant Wang Yu and headed out.
Gu Yufeng's car had already driven off. Sitting in the back seat, Xie Ci took out his phone to send a message, but a staff member came over, knocking on the car window, handing in a neatly folded overcoat, saying it was left behind.
Xie Ci immediately recognized it wasn't his, but considering a possibility, he asked the staff, "Who found this?"
The staff respectfully replied, "Young Master Gu's assistant found it in the lounge, said they found your business card in the pocket and asked me to pass it to you before leaving."
With his guess confirmed, Xie Ci had Wang Yu take it, thanked the staff, and signaled the driver to start the car.
Once out of the manor's range, Xie Ci picked up the coat, pulling out a box of stomach medicine from the pocket, finally feeling at ease.
Playing the sympathy card worked.
Opening the medicine box, besides the pills, there was a room card and a paper heart.
He picked up the heart, flipping it in front of his eyes, suddenly recalling the deformed heart he found in his drawer back in senior year, finding it amusing.
Still holding a grudge? Remembering something from so many years ago.
Xie Ci couldn't imagine what kind of love letter Gu Yufeng would write, carefully opening the heart, finding only one line on the white paper.
[This is not a love letter.]
Xie Ci flipped it over.
[You said it's not a love letter, yet you flipped it over to see.]
Xie Ci: "..."
Little brat.
Half an hour later, the car pulled into a high-end hotel.
Xie Ci used the room card to open the corresponding suite door, the space inside pitch black, with only a few breathing lights glowing in the corner.
He took a step inside, and in the corner of his eye, a shadow quickly approached, hugging him and kissing him without a word.
Xie Ci closed the door with his free hand, turning to press the person against the door, deepening the kiss.
In the dim space, lips and tongues intertwined, leaving only the sound of their increasingly heavy breathing and Gu Yufeng's occasional restless hums.
Gu Yufeng's hand caressed Xie Ci's face, fingers threading through his hair, slowly tightening.
The cold metal touch brought Xie Ci back to his senses, holding Gu Yufeng's hand and pulling back slightly.
"What's this about?"
Seeing Xie Ci's gaze on his left hand, Gu Yufeng asked back, "Does it bother you?"
"What do you think?" Xie Ci's gaze was a bit sharp.
Gu Yufeng chuckled, "Because you stood me up, I just casually got engaged to someone."
Xie Ci raised an eyebrow, "Engaged and still giving your ex a room card?"
"I like to steal, you know that."
Gu Yufeng pushed Xie Ci further inside, taking off his overcoat and tossing it onto the sofa, pressing him down to sit, his long fingers hooking the tie and pulling it loose, "Let me see if President Xie really doesn't eat the grass back."
Xie Ci watched as Gu Yufeng straddled him, wrapping his arms around his waist, "I said I don't, so I don't."
"Bold."
Gu Yufeng lightly bit Xie Ci's Adam's apple, a smile in his voice, "Let's see how long you can keep that mouth of yours."
They had known each other for ten years, and even though they were often apart, they knew each other quite well, both in personality and physically.
Xie Ci indulged him, letting him do as he pleased, soon finding his clothes in disarray, unable to bear it any longer, flipping over to pin him down.
A soft laugh came from Gu Yufeng, sounding quite pleased. Xie Ci pinched his waist, kissing from his ear down his neck, collarbone, to his chest.
Gu Yufeng, still unsatisfied, rubbed his leg against Xie Ci's waist, "Hurry up, stop dawdling."
Xie Ci looked up at him, "In such a rush? Can't hold back after just over two months?"
Gu Yufeng laughed in exasperation, "What do you mean just over two months? How many two months are there in a year? You're the one playing monk, don't count me in."
Xie Ci lightly bit his chest, immediately hearing a soft hum.
"Being with me, you've suffered."
Gu Yufeng: "Good that you know."
Xie Ci chuckled, just about to undo Gu Yufeng's waistband when the phone in the coat pocket vibrated. He ignored it, but the vibration resumed after a brief pause.
He reluctantly got up to get it, but Gu Yufeng stopped him, pressing him back into the sofa.
"Don't bother, nothing's more important than dealing with you right now." Gu Yufeng casually grabbed the tie, quickly binding Xie Ci's hands.
Xie Ci watched as his hands were tied, raising an eyebrow, "Who's dealing with whom?"
Gu Yufeng tugged on the end of the tie, leaning down to kiss the corner of Xie Ci's lips, "Of course, I'm dealing with you. What, the all-powerful President Xie has no confidence in being the bottom?"
Xie Ci looked up at Gu Yufeng, calmly replying, "Indeed, not as experienced as you."
As soon as he finished speaking, his lip was bitten.
"Still daring to talk back at the end?" Gu Yufeng licked the bite mark he left, his hand brushing over Xie Ci's chest, undoing the shirt buttons, "Considering it's your first time, I'll give you a few options. Do you want it gentle, rough, or kinky?"
Xie Ci: "...Kinky?"
Gu Yufeng feigned surprise, "Didn't expect President Xie to have such heavy tastes."
Xie Ci narrowed his eyes slightly, "How kinky are we talking?"
