WHV | Chapter 28
I Want to Give Birth
Yu Wei sat down on the plane, typing and deleting in the chat box with Bai Sijia before takeoff. After hesitating for a long time, he still didn’t dare send the words, “I’m pregnant.”
He would tell the truth after he got to Germany. It wouldn’t be too late.
The flight attendant spoke the announcement in crisp, polished Mandarin, reminding passengers that the plane was about to take off and that electronic devices needed to be turned off.
Yu Wei put away his phone and leaned back against the seat, closing his eyes and pretending to nap. For a full five days, Shi Ci Yan had sent no message at all.
The Lin family side was just as quiet. That day, Lin Zeri had gone wild when he left. He had called the police in time, and with what Lin Zeri had done, a detention of at least two weeks was a sure thing. As his intended fiancé, he should have at least heard rumors that Lin Zeri had been detained.
But now it was as if nothing had happened.
Maybe at the crucial moment, Shi Ci Yan’s protagonist halo had dazzled Lin Zeri stupid, and the two of them had shaken hands, made peace, and gone their separate ways.
“Heh…”
Yu Wei couldn’t help laughing at his own childish thought.
With Lin Zeri’s character, making peace was absolutely impossible.
No news now was the worst news.
Suddenly, the plane slowly lifted off. Yu Wei opened his eyes sharply and looked out the window. As the ground grew farther and farther away, the weightless feeling that followed brought a fear he had never felt before.
He wanted off the plane. He didn’t want to go to unfamiliar Germany and start over there.
He didn’t want to leave.
But if he didn’t leave, what could he do?
He had already been an accident in this world. Now there was another accident growing in his belly.
Over these past few days, he had thought a lot. Before he had entered the book, he had been an NPC, a background extra. But after coming in, he had somehow given himself more lines, ended up as the cannon fodder who seduced the protagonist and shamelessly got pregnant with the protagonist’s child.
But in the end, he could not affect the main plot. In a romance novel, if the main CP was gone, could this book still exist?
If the main CP was gone, then the world built for them would also cease to exist.
He knew he had added far too much plot that the original novel never had. If he didn’t leave soon, this world would eventually collapse.
At first, he had only wanted to move to another city. But every time he thought of what Shi Ci Yan had said that day, that no matter where he went, he would drag him back, Yu Wei got scared.
What’s more, he wanted to keep the baby.
In his last life, and in this one, he had been an orphan. This life had been a little luckier, with the Yu family taking him in. The child in his belly was the only person in both his lives who shared his blood.
The beliefs he had absorbed in his previous life differed from this one. The idea that men couldn’t have children had been deeply ingrained in him. When he learned he was pregnant, he felt like a freak. But in this world, pregnancy for men was perfectly normal.
He still couldn’t accept the fact that he was pregnant, couldn’t identify with the Omega gender, but he could accept a new life. More than that, it was his child.
His child would be his only child, and Yu Wei couldn’t bear to personally kill the one and only blood relative he had.
He wanted to give birth to this baby.
The cost would be never returning to the country, staying far, far away from the protagonist, and cutting off every possibility of seeing Shi Ci Yan again.
So he didn’t want to leave. But he had to leave.
He couldn’t stay and give birth to the baby, couldn’t influence Shi Ci Yan, couldn’t affect the main plot of the original novel.
Suddenly, a packet of tissues entered Yu Wei’s field of vision, and a voice beside him cut off his thoughts.
“Here, tissues.”
Yu Wei looked over blankly. The other person pointed at Yu Wei’s face. “Missing home? I cried worse than you the first time I left home. I squatted in front of the cabin door, crying that I wanted to get off the plane. It took several flight attendants a long time to drag me back to my seat.”
Yu Wei dazedly wiped his face. His palm came away wet with tears. From childhood to now, he had never thought of himself as someone who cried easily. In his last life, with no one to comfort him, he hadn’t dared to cry. His tear ducts had gradually atrophied, and he had not even cried at the teacher’s funeral.
In this life, Bai Sijia cared about him, and Shi Ci Yan coaxed him. It really seemed that the more he lived, the more delicate he became, and the weaker his tolerance grew. He cried at the slightest thing.
After this, he would have nothing left.
Yu Wei sniffled and took the tissues. “Thank you.”
He couldn’t cry anymore after this.
For the next ten hours, Yu Wei didn’t cry again. When he was tired, he slept. When he woke, he stared blankly out the window.
By the time the plane landed, it was past 10 p.m. in Germany. Several days earlier, he had already told Ling Heyu he would be coming today to be picked up from the airport. Yu Wei hadn’t expected it to be this late in Germany, so while waiting for his luggage after getting off the plane, he sent Ling Heyu a message.
It was so late that he probably couldn’t make it. Yu Wei could understand that.
Unexpectedly, Ling Heyu replied instantly, “You’ll see me as soon as you come out.”
Yu Wei didn’t take the words seriously. The airport had so many people. It wasn’t like his eyes had radar and could lock onto someone in one glance.
But Yu Wei hadn’t expected that the moment he came out, he really did see him.
Not only him, Yu Wei felt that more than half the people in the airport had seen him too.
A bunch of people were lined up holding a banner, with flowers and balloons as well. It was all gaudy and flashy, impossible not to notice.
“A handsome, talented, smart, and beautiful Xiao Yu, welcome to Germany.”
Not long ago, they had been calling him stupid. Now they were putting on airs and writing this line. Yu Wei only glanced over it before hurrying along with the crowd toward the exit.
He wasn’t being annoying on purpose, he just felt mortified.
What’s more, almost everyone on his flight could read Chinese, and they were all following Ling Heyu to look for him.
Ling Heyu was like a loudspeaker, reading out the little essay in a ringing voice and expressing his surging emotions over Yu Wei’s arrival.
Yu Wei wanted even less to acknowledge him.
“Xiao Yu, over here, Xiao Yu…”
Yu Wei didn’t want to acknowledge him, but Ling Heyu had sharp eyes and spotted him in the crowd, the one standing there awkwardly as if he wanted to crawl into a hole.
Yu Wei saw Ling Heyu point at him. Then, behind him, the two rows of people standing there, two of them holding the banner, while the others picked something up from the ground. Yu Wei looked more closely, and his vision went black. He nearly fainted on the spot.
No, to be exact, he had fainted for a few seconds, and before he even hit the ground, the gong and drum sounds had rudely jolted him awake.
It was toxic.
Ling Heyu was toxic.
For a moment, he had the urge to turn around and go straight back to the country.
“Welcome, Xiao Yu, welcome, welcome…”
Two rows, three people in each row, were blowing suona while beating gongs and drums, marching step by step toward him.
The onlookers gathered around only made things worse, instantly awakening Yu Wei’s social anxiety gene and freezing him in place.
“Xiao Yu, welcome, welcome~” Ling Heyu walked over and handed him the bouquet he had been holding in his arms.
Yu Wei immediately snapped back to his senses, took the flowers, and headed out. This was too socially fatal.
He walked quickly, and Ling Heyu pulled his suitcase behind him, leading the “band” to keep pace.
The sound of the suona echoed in his ears.
After Yu Wei walked out of the airport, he turned back and glared at the “band,” then looked at Ling Heyu. “Enough. Why are you blowing suona in the middle of the night? It’s creepy.”
Ling Heyu said, “…I only had them specially invited to welcome you, and you’re not even moved?”
“I am moved, but enough already. If you keep blowing, someone’s going to report you for disturbing the peace.”
Only then did Ling Heyu let them stop and took Yu Wei to the parking lot.
“I’ll carry the luggage.” Ling Heyu glanced at Yu Wei’s belly. If someone didn’t know, they might think he had just put on weight, but Ling Heyu knew the baby hadn’t been aborted yet.
After Ling Heyu loaded the suitcase, he went around to the driver’s seat and got in. Yu Wei was already in the passenger seat, buckled up.
“Let’s go,” Ling Heyu said, starting the car. Yu Wei had come too suddenly, and he hadn’t had time to find him a place to stay, so he could only live at his house for now.
His house was a little far from the airport. On the way, Ling Heyu kept trying to make conversation, but after thinking about it for a long while, he still couldn’t find a topic and ended up looking at Yu Wei’s belly.
“Didn’t you say you were going to abort the baby?”
Yu Wei opened his mouth, then closed it again. After a long while, when he still couldn’t find an excuse, he told the truth. “I don’t want to abort it anymore.”
At first, he had wanted to abort the baby for only two reasons.
One, he couldn’t accept being pregnant all at once.
Two, he couldn’t accept having the protagonist’s child.
Now he had nothing to worry about. Shi Ci Yan would never know he had given birth to this child, and he would never see him again.
Besides, there were so many pregnant men in this world. He was nothing special. Other than himself, no one thought he was a freak.
“You want to give birth to it?” Ling Heyu was a little surprised when he heard Yu Wei didn’t want to abort the baby anymore. “You suddenly came to Germany. Don’t tell me it was to secretly have a child without your family knowing!”
“Something like that,” Yu Wei answered vaguely.
He really had come to Germany to hide from everyone and give birth.
But the person he was hiding from was Shi Ci Yan, not his family.
One day, his family would find out about him having a child. He couldn’t keep it hidden forever. So before leaving the country, he had wanted to confess, but was afraid Bai Sijia would worry too much and refuse to let him go. After boarding, he had hesitated for a long time, still afraid of making Bai Sijia worry, and in the end still couldn’t say it.
After thinking about it, he decided he should wait until he was settled here before telling the truth, so Bai Sijia would worry less.
“Secretly having a baby without your family knowing, Xiao Yu, you really are too bold.”
Yu Wei didn’t argue. He said lightly, “I’ll find a good chance and explain everything to them.”
Half an hour later, Ling Heyu parked the car. Yu Wei in the passenger seat was already half asleep.
He had slept on the plane, but his body was still too exhausted, and he was a little dazed all over.
“Get out. Go home and sleep.” Ling Heyu shook Yu Wei’s shoulder to wake him.
Yu Wei slowly woke up. On this half-hour drive, he had not only slept but also dreamed.
In the dream, Shi Ci Yan had a dark expression, asking over and over why he had run away. When Shi Ci Yan approached and wanted to grab his throat, Ling Heyu shook him awake.
“You had a nightmare?” Ling Heyu walked around to the passenger side and opened the door for him. “Watch your step. Don’t sleep yourself stupid and miss the step.”
Ling Heyu was driving an SUV, so the chassis was high.
“I’d better help you,” Ling Heyu said. “If you fall, I can’t afford to compensate you.”
Ling Heyu helped Yu Wei out of the car, then took out the luggage and walked ahead, looking back at Yu Wei, who was still dazed and standing there.
“Come on.”
Yu Wei blinked and followed him.
Ling Heyu lived on the fourth floor. While waiting for the elevator, Yu Wei stood nearby, dozing off.
He dozed off in the elevator too.
“You’re that tired?” Ling Heyu watched his head droop bit by bit. “When we get home, take a shower. I’ll make you a bowl of noodles. After you eat, go straight to sleep.”
Yu Wei had been too tired this whole trip, body and mind both drained. He desperately needed deep sleep.
“We’re home. Hang in there a little longer.”
Once they got home, Ling Heyu led Yu Wei into the room prepared for him. “Go take a shower. There are a few sets of pajamas and loungewear in the closet, all brand new. Wear whatever you want.”
Yu Wei followed his gaze into the wardrobe. “Okay, thank you.”
The clothes in the closet didn’t look like Ling Heyu’s size. They looked more like they had been prepared specifically for him.
“How many times have you thanked me on the way here?” Ling Heyu said helplessly. “It’s nothing. Don’t be so polite. My dad and your dad have been friends for so many years. Uncle Yu’s son is my little brother. Hurry and take a shower. After your shower, you’ll be able to eat a steaming bowl of noodles, then get a proper sleep.”
Yu Wei nodded and said automatically, “Okay, thank you.”
Ling Heyu: “…”
